Concorde – The New Era Video

This concorde video focuses more on Concorde’s role post the tragic accident in Paris in the Summer of 2000. As well as reporting on the immediate aftermath of the crash there is also footage of the last domestic charter flights. For many years Concorde earned her keep by supplementing regular supersonic flights to New York with short domestic trips from various regional airports. These flights brought out crowds from across the country from Glasgow to Exeter, but even prior to the crash a decision had been made to quietly phase these pleasure flights out to preserve the aircrafts life.

Concorde – The New Era, captures these historic flights as well as following what will probably be the last ever round the world charter flight to such far-flung and diverse destinations as Fiji, Bangkok, Nairobi, Aqaba and Venice. Following the Paris tragedy, we go behind the scenes with BA and Air France to see the modifications taking place in a bid to get Concorde back into the air again. Following re-certification, you can see the first test flights right through to her return to service in 2001.

Overall, ‘Concorde – The New Era’ is a fascinating factual documentary with unique interviews from pilots past and present during what must surely be the most infamous period in a civil airliners history.
